November 17th, 2017: 5th planting of trees in Eldena
On Friday, 17th of November, there will be a planting of different kinds of fruit trees at the orchard in Eldena. This is the 5th planting within the donation campaign "a tree for my university".
Eight apple and pear trees will be planted. These trees were collected from Thoralf Weiß who is the directer of the arboretum. He found young tress from old and rare species in the surroundings of Greifswald city, on the side of roads or at public areas and brought them to the tree nursery Zetelvitz where they got provided with the appropriate subrate. This is a way how old and regional species are being preserved and increase the biodiversity of the orchard.
An additional pear tree is donated from the Allgemeinen Studierendenausschuss (AStA).
November 11th, 2016: 4th planting of trees in Eldena
Once again, on Friday the 11th of November 2016, there will be a planting of additional trees at the newly established orchard in Eldena. Ten new fruit trees are going to be increasing the range of already planted apple, pear and cherry trees. Everyone who is interested is very welcome to help with the planting of the trees!
February 27th/28th, 2016: course in pruning
On 27th and 28th of February will be a course pruning under professional supervision at the orchard in Eldena. Everyone who is interested is very welcome.
November 6th, 2015: third planting of trees in Eldena
It is still an ordinary meadow but will soon be meadow with plenty of fruit trees. Within the campaign "a tree for my university" an orchard will be started being established on November 6th in Eldena. The first 20 apple, pear, plum and quince trees will be planted on that day.
The meadow at Hainstraße is going to be planted with various fruit trees over the next years to increase biodiversity.
November 7th, 2014: second planting of trees at Ellernholzstraße 1-2
We are glad to being able to plant more trees within the campaign "a tree for my university". Ten trees will be planted this time, among others there will a quince and a hazelnut tree.
March 29th, 2014: joint planting of trees at the arboretum
On March 29th, the first planting of trees with donaters, friends and supporters of the campaign "a tree for my university" took place. 13 fruit tress have been planted in the arboretum of Greifswald University. The regional newspaper "Ostseezeitung" and the radio station "NDR 1 Radio M-V" did a report and representatives of the AStA presented a check for future sponsorships of even more trees to be planted.
January 14th, 2014: "Tanzen fürs Wäldle" - Charity event of the AStA-Greifswald
The AStA Greifswald organised a charity event in order to support the research project "Nachhaltiger Waldumbau" on January 14th at the Klex. The theme was choosen to be "Tanzt fürs Wäldle! Für Spaß, fürs Karma...für Bäumchen!" and the music was a mix of indie/rock and electro/house. All the profit made went completely to the project.
December 31st, 2013: addition in personnel
From January 2014 on, Dr. Monique Wölk, coordinator of the project "CO2-neutral university", will be in charge of the campaign. From now on she will be contacted if anyone has a question or a problem regarding the campaign and how to support it voluntaringly.
December 10th, 2013: Sum of donations more than € 1000!
When we started our donation campaign almost two months ago, we did not know about people's generosity. From today on the sum of all donations is a four-digit number - which shows the importance of climate and environmental protection among staff and students of the university.
We would like to thank again all people for their donations and are looking forward to planting the first trees in spring 2014!
November 20th, 2013: conversion to SEPA
The university will be converting to the EU-wide used SEPA-practice to process payments from December 1st 2013. We would like to point out to the donaters to please use the information regarding BIC and IBAN.

October 21st, 2013: help wanted
We are looking for students who are willing to work voluntarily in public relations for the project. Your field of work would include for instance customer service at the stand and fotographical documentation of different kinds of events, networking with AStA and FSR and the marketing of the campaign. Are you interested?
October 14th, 2013: Almost 40 donors at the start of the campaign
A total of 37 donors and 114 € donations - these are the results shortly after starting the campaign. During the "Day of science" and during the market for the freshman students we could present our donation campaign and gained a lot of positive feedback. So far most of the donors were students. We wish the willingness to donate money will last also during the next weeks and months! Donations can be transfered to our bank account at any time.
October 12th, 2013: Donation campaign will start!
On October 12th, Greifswald University organizes a "Tag der Wissenschaft" (Day of Science) in Rubenowstr. 1 (inner courtyard of the "Old Campus"). We will participate in that day with an information desk from 1-6 pm where we will start our donation campaign "A tree for my university". Please come and see us!

We just received our brand-new flyers. They are printed on recycled paper certified with "Blauer Engel" and with colours based on vegetable oil. Electricity from renewable energies was used, production and shipping was carried out climate neutral.
