The Bhutanese government’s approach to development has been explicitly based on a specific (Buddhist) ethics, showcasing the relationships between worldviews, values, policies, and practice. A paper comparing the values and development histories of Bhutan and Nepal was discussed in the seminar.
In total, we will take about an hour to watch the main documentary as well as an additional short video on organic farming and zero waste in a Bhutanese village, possibly followed by a video statement from the filmmaker. It is hoped that the concluding discussion will bring together all the main ideas and points of contention from the seminar.
More information on the films is available at http://bhutanakingdomofhappiness.com.
