Research interests

I have always been interested to know more about how organisms in general and plants in particular interact with each other and their physical environment, and how the environment is affected by the activities of organisms and human beings.

In my PhD project, I am working on evaluating the ecological impacts of the invasive cactus Opuntia ficus-indica on the native biodiversity. Common-garden experiments are used to understand the potential reasons for the successful spread of this species under non-native environmental conditions, i.e. analysing the phenotypic plasticity and genetic adaptation of the plant.
